Open Wide!

This was a big week for Thomas: he got his teeth cleaned at the dentist!  I was so proud of him.  After watching me get my teeth cleaned by our hygenist, Sandra, he just plopped right in the chair and opened his mouth.  Clearly unruffled by shiny metal instruments and suction tubes, he didn't need the rubber glove balloon to lure him in. He chose "chocolate chip cookie dough" flavored toothpaste (yuck!) and "merry mint" flavored flouride treatment.  After the cleaning, Dr. Merendino took a look and said that he has a mouth full of strong, healthy pearly whites (though he does indeed have the Lockhart underbite).  Thomas went away with a goody bag full of toothpaste, a Transformers toothbrush, and some vanilla bean hand-sanitizer.  As soon as we got home, he made sure we put the paraphernalia in HIS medicine cabinet (not Mommy and Daddy's.)  Looks like we're well on our way to good dental health!

Very cool that you've had such dental success. Many of my patients are dental kids for general anesthesia. We get kids of his age getting full sets of caps/crowns on their baby teeth because their parents won't do the right thing for their kids' teeth. :)
